I have spinal stenosis. My lower back hurt but worse, my legs would numb and tighten if I walked more than a mile. It was really bad. I tried steroid shots and they did not help. I tried physical therapy somewhere else and it did not work. This place is great. Kim Rich, Isolene, et. al. really worked me hard without hurting me. They know what they are doing. In about two months I was basically cured as far as the numbness goes. Because I was hurting, my core got weak. I am pretty strong and athletic and did not think this was possible. But the improvement from the isolated strengthening is remarkable. I still have some residual pain but it is localized which my physician indicates is normal. I would without hesitation recommend this place, which was recommended to me by my MD. I really had almost lost all hope and thought I was just going to have to resign myself to being a crippled old man (I am 48) but I am back to myself again.

Was very impressed with the therapists at H&D. Not only did my therapist (Asra) immediately find out ways to eliminate my back pain, but she also explained why the pain began, and what I need to do long-term to make sure it did not return

Thanks to Asra, I have several new back/core exercises that I have integrated into my workouts, and am strengthening the muscles I need to strengthen to promote a healthy back.

Strongly recommend H & D to anyone that wants a professional experience with extremely knowledgeable staff.

I can't speak highly enough about H&D.

I struck gold. My orthopedist had given me a list of recommended PT places in the city. Without knowing anything about H&D, other than they were in-network with my insurance, I randomly made an appointment and never looked back.
Now I am on my third injury... yes, I break easy. So happy that I found Asra at 46th Street. She's amazing and does her best to make me whole again!
The ladies at the front desk and other PTs are all very warm and friendly. Great place.
Highly recommend.

I have had physical therapy 4 times in my life, the last two at H&D because why mess around when you've found the best? At the risk of sounding like a commercial, I couldn't be happier with Robert Nelson, my PT, the office staff, or the way the office is run in general. Everything is friendly, efficient and geared to help us heal successfully. Bob has helped me with my back in 2007 and again in 2010/11 with my shoulder--I am always confident when in his care--his knowledge and treatment are always spot on for me. And he explains things very clearly, something I appreciate. I hope I don't need physical therapy again, but it's reassuring to know exactly where I will go to get better if I do.

The therapists here are amazing.

A little back story:

I had been having massive pain in my calves for months, and sought out PT's, Doctors, etc. After months of fruitless PT at other places, I came to H&D on a friend's recommendation.
After months of attempted diagnoses by four other PTs, ranging from posture, to strength, etc etc. Greg looked me over and worked with me on some flexibility exercises - lo and behold I'm running pain free =)
Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, from the front desk to the therapists and aides.
I would recommend H&D in a heartbeat.

I have been going to their UN/Tudor City location for the last two months and have to say that it does not get better than this!
The therapists are warm, friendly, knowledgeable and make you feel very comfortable. I worked with Tom and Michelle and both of them were excellent!

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great physical therapy clinic....you will not regret it!

Twenty five years ago I had a skiing accident, breaking my ankle and tibia in seven places and resulting
in my right leg being 1/2 inch shorter than my left. Being a vain women, I refused any prosthesis and adjusted my walk to avoid limping. As a result, over the years my spine became curved and scoliosis set in, causing me back pain that worsened with each passing year. I had multiple treatments, including Radio frequency injections, caudal blocks, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments and much PT. My internist, who was doing acupuncture for me, suggested I make an appointment with Greg Hullstrung of H&D Therapy. During my first visit after reviewing my MRI, his opinion was not one that held much promise of any miracles. However, with his caring diligence and professional expertise, he discovered that because of the dead tissues from the ankle breaks, my ankle could not flex at all, putting all the pressure onto my left leg and lower back. Painful as his miracle "cure" sessions are... my smile each day is a testament both to my amazing relief and his ability to go "above and beyond" the conventional. His dedication to healing me has added to my having a life beyond my wildest dream!! I have such gratitude for my pain free days.
